The best AI receptionists for electricians in 2026

For an electrical contractor, the best AI receptionist triages a hazard to your on-call electrician and books the rest of the work while you are on a job. Sameday sells an AI electrician answering service that does both; ServiceTitan, Jobber and Housecall Pro build a receptionist into their own software, and Avoca adds a human CSR team behind its AI. Smith.ai puts live receptionists behind the AI. Upfirst, Goodcall and Rosie are self-serve, from $24.95 a month. We, Modern Mustard Seed, publish this guide and build a custom receptionist that we run and you own. Answer fast: after one unanswered call, 82% of people call a competitor instead (CallRail, 2025). Every fact below was read from each company's own site on October 26, 2026.

PriceLaunch from $449 a month (500 minutes), Scale from $789 a month (1,000 minutes), Enterprise custom.

02 · Best for an electrical contractor already running ServiceTitan

ServiceTitan AI Virtual Agent

An AI voice agent built into ServiceTitan. It answers calls and books jobs straight onto the ServiceTitan dispatch board from real-time technician availability, working alongside your current phone system or as part of ServiceTitan Contact Center Pro.

Strengths

  • Native to ServiceTitan, "eliminating the need for third-party add-ons or complex integrations," per ServiceTitan.
  • Books to the dispatch board from live technician availability, and confirms and reschedules appointments.
  • Takes overflow and after-hours calls, and escalates or transfers to your own live CSRs when a call needs judgment.

Watch for

  • You need a ServiceTitan subscription: the agent runs on ServiceTitan data and is not sold on its own.
  • Its texting agent works only on ServiceTitan tracking numbers.
  • No published price. ServiceTitan prices per technician, by request.

PriceNot published. Every ServiceTitan package (Starter, Essentials, The Works) says Request Pricing.

03 · Best for a multi-truck shop on ServiceTitan that wants an AI CSR with people behind it

Avoca

Avoca bills itself as "The AI Front Office for Electrical": an AI CSR that answers calls around the clock, books jobs into your CRM and routes emergencies, plus outbound campaigns, call coaching and analytics.

Strengths

  • Books jobs directly onto your ServiceTitan board, with real-time syncing between the two systems.
  • "Emergency calls get routed to your on-call tech immediately. Everything else gets booked," per Avoca.
  • A hybrid option sends calls the AI cannot handle to Avoca's own human CSR team.

Watch for

  • No published price: it starts with a 20-minute demo.
  • ServiceTitan is the only field service platform with its own integration page; on other software, confirm how deep booking goes before you sign.

PriceNot published. Book a demo.

04 · Best for a small shop already on Jobber

Jobber Receptionist

An AI receptionist built into Jobber that "answers calls and texts 24/7, books visits, takes requests, and escalates to you when needed," running on the business data already in your Jobber account.

Strengths

  • You choose the keywords that mean urgent, such as a burst pipe or no heat, and those calls escalate to you.
  • Books into your Jobber calendar through your Online Booking form.
  • An after-hours caller "gets an answer instead of a voicemail box," per Jobber.

Watch for

  • Only for businesses on a paid Jobber plan, with a Jobber dedicated phone number (US, Canada and UK).
  • On the add-on, each conversation past the 30 included costs $0.79.
  • No staffed humans: it transfers to you or your escalation contact, or sends a text alert.

PriceReceptionist add-on $29 a month with 30 conversations, then $0.79 each; included with unlimited use on Jobber Plus ($280 a month, annual prepaid). Jobber plans start at $21 a month, annual prepaid.

05 · Best for a shop already running Housecall Pro

Housecall Pro CSR AI

An AI customer service rep built into Housecall Pro. It answers calls and web chats day or night and books jobs onto your Housecall Pro calendar from your own services, hours and availability.

Strengths

  • Built in, so "your team, jobs, and tools work in sync," per Housecall Pro.
  • Emergency handling is always on: urgent calls forward to the number you choose or trigger a text alert.
  • A caller who asks for a person can go to your number or to a Housecall Pro Assist rep.

Watch for

  • CSR AI is an add-on, and its price is not on the pricing page.
  • Booking depends on Online Booking being set up with services and open windows.
  • Text answering is still in alpha.

PriceCSR AI add-on: not published. Housecall Pro plans: Basic $59, Essentials $149 and Max $299 a month billed annually ($79, $189 and $329 billed monthly).

06 · Best when you want live human receptionists behind the AI

Smith.ai

An AI receptionist backed by live North America-based receptionists, billed per call. Its electrician page leads with an answering service "with Calendar Booking."

Strengths

  • A complex call can transfer to a live receptionist, day or night.
  • A free plan with 25 calls a month, so you can try it first.
  • AI scheduling through Calendly and other booking tools.

Watch for

  • Every answered call counts toward your quota; you can remove up to 10% a cycle as spam, and known spammers are filtered first.
  • Calls past your allowance bill at a higher per-call rate.
  • Canceling takes 30 days notice.

PriceFree plan: 25 calls a month, then $3.00 a call. Pro: $150 a month for 75 calls, $270 for 150, $500 for 300. Enterprise: $500 a month for 300 calls or $800 for 500, custom from 1,000.

07 · Best for an owner who wants one built, run and owned, without switching software

Modern Mustard Seed(that's us)

That's us. We are an AI product studio in Kalispell, Montana, and we build a custom AI receptionist for one electrical contractor at a time: your services, service area, emergency rules and booking rules, in a natural voice. Then we run it for you, for businesses in every state.

Strengths

  • Built and managed for you: we write the call rules with you, test them, and keep tuning after launch.
  • Answers every call in seconds, day or night, books the job and texts you a summary when the call ends.
  • You own the configuration and the accounts, and changes to what we built are included.

Watch for

  • Not self-serve: it starts with a discovery call and a written scope, so it is not live the same afternoon.
  • If you run ServiceTitan with a CSR team, a native option books deeper into the dispatch board.
  • No published price; we quote a set package after the call.

PriceSet package price, quoted after a free discovery call

08 · Best for a small shop that wants low per-call pricing and a free trial

Upfirst

A self-serve AI answering service billed by calls a month, with calendar booking, warm transfers and a choice of answering every call, overflow only or after hours. Its electrician page: "Answer every call with our electrician answering service."

Strengths

  • 14-day free trial with no credit card and no contract.
  • Spam, calls under 15 seconds and silent calls are not billed.
  • Live, warm handoffs to you or your team.

Watch for

  • $1.50 a call past the 30 included on Starter.
  • Books into general calendars (Google Calendar, Outlook, Calendly, Acuity); field service software connects through Zapier or a custom API action.
  • Each extra agent is $9.95 a month.

PriceStarter $24.95 a month for 30 calls, Premium $59.95 for 90, Pro $159.95 for 300, Scale $299 for 600; annual billing saves 20%.

09 · Best for a self-serve agent billed by callers, not minutes

Goodcall

A self-serve AI answering service you build by talking to its AI builder, Gabi, billed per unique customer served each month instead of per minute.

Strengths

  • Billed by unique customers, never by the minute.
  • Runs practice calls on tricky cases, such as an emergency at midnight, before you go live.
  • Transfers to up to three escalation contacts in order, retrying busy lines.

Watch for

  • Extra customers bill at your plan rate: 79 cents each on Starter.
  • Native connections are Google Calendar, Google Sheets and HighLevel; field service software needs an API tool or MCP server.
  • No free trial on the pricing page: you build a free demo agent and pay when a number is connected.

PriceStarter $79 a month (100 unique customers), Growth $129 (500), Scale $299 (2,000); Enterprise by quote.

10 · Best for a one-truck shop that wants a low monthly price and a free trial

Rosie

A self-serve AI answering service that answers 24/7, takes messages, texts booking links or books on a connected calendar, and alerts you to high-priority calls.

Strengths

  • 7-day free trial on every plan, with no contracts or cancellation fees.
  • Go over your minutes and you move up to the next plan at its standard price, with no per-minute overage.
  • Books on Google Calendar, Calendly, Acuity or Appointlet from the Scale plan up.

Watch for

  • It does not dispatch technicians; an emergency becomes a notification to you.
  • Calendar booking and call transfers start on the $149 Scale plan; the $49 plan texts a booking link instead.
  • No direct field service software integration; CRMs connect through Zapier.

PriceProfessional $49 a month (250 minutes), Scale $149 (1,000 minutes), Growth $299 (2,000 minutes); annual billing gives 2 months free.

How we picked
  • We read each company's own product, trade and pricing pages on October 26, 2026, and list only what they publish. Where a company publishes no price, we say so.
  • We sorted by the software you already run and how much you want to set up yourself, not by a single ranking, so the order is not a score.
  • We judged on what an electrical contractor needs from its phone: emergencies to the on-call electrician, booking into the schedule, after-hours coverage, and what happens to the bill when call volume spikes.
  • We did not place test calls to any vendor for this guide. Everything here is what each company publishes about itself.
  • Modern Mustard Seed wrote this guide and builds AI receptionists. We are on the list, we say so, and every option gets the same space.
