AI receptionists for Colorado businesses

Yes. We build and manage AI receptionists for Colorado businesses, managed for you end to end from our studio in Kalispell, Montana. Colorado is a one-party consent state under C.R.S. 18-9-303(1)(a); 18-9-304(1)(a), so a business on the call may record it without telling the caller. Colorado requires a business deploying AI that talks to consumers to tell each one they are dealing with AI, from June 30, 2026 until S.B. 26-189 replaces that part of the statute on January 1, 2027 (C.R.S. 6-1-1704). Your agent answers in Mountain time, on the number you already have or a new local Colorado number.

Call recording

Colorado is a one-party consent state. Wiretapping needs the absence of consent of both sender and receiver. Read in the official C.R.S. 2024 edition, the latest posted.

“Knowingly overhears, reads, takes, copies, or records a telephone, telegraph, or electronic communication without the consent of either a sender or a receiver thereof”

Colorado AI Act consumer interaction disclosure

A business deploying an AI system meant to interact with consumers must tell each consumer they are dealing with AI, unless that would be obvious. In force from June 30, 2026. S.B. 26-189 repeals and reenacts this part of the statute on January 1, 2027, and the new text has no interaction notice.

“SHALL ENSURE THE DISCLOSURE TO EACH CONSUMER WHO INTERACTS WITH THE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE SYSTEM THAT THE CONSUMER IS INTERACTING WITH AN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE SYSTEM.”

C.R.S. 6-1-1704 (S.B. 24-205, delayed by S.B. 25B-004; repealed and reenacted without this duty by S.B. 26-189 effective 2027-01-01)

Colorado conversational AI services law

Requires a conversational AI service to disclose that it is AI at the start of each day's first interaction, but excludes programs built mainly for transactions, customer support or customer service.

“Is primarily designed to provide commerce-related or transactional assistance, including product or service recommendations, shopping, ordering, payments, delivery, returns, customer support, or customer service”

H.B. 26-1263 (2026), adding C.R.S. 6-1-1701(3.5)

S.B. 26-189 repeals and reenacts Colorado’s part 17 effective January 1, 2027 (S.B. 26-189 (2026), Section 5); the reenacted 6-1-1704 covers automated decisions in consequential matters such as lending and hiring, not a consumer talking to an AI.

The first sentence

The Colorado greeting we recommend

“Thanks for calling [your business]. You have reached our AI receptionist, and this call is recorded. How can I help?”

  • Recording notice first, though Colorado does not require it: a caller dialing from California or Washington brings an all-party rule onto the call.
  • AI disclosure second, which meets Colorado's 6-1-1704 notice through December 31, 2026.

C.R.S. Title 6 has no time-of-day rule. The federal window for sales calls is 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the called person’s location (47 CFR 64.1200(c)(1)), and FCC 24-17 treats an AI voice as an artificial voice.
